Can you find the line of symmetry?

Snack Alert

I haven't requested snacks since December because we had plenty for such a long time. We are now running low. If you have not sent any snacks in January, please send something when you can (enough for 18 students). Thanks!

The Enormous Egg

Thanks again for the wonderful support with our "One School, One Book" reading of The Enormous Egg. To keep on track with our schedule, chapter 8 should be read by tomorrow. We continue to read closely and find evidence to support the character traits we've discussed for each main character. We are finding that Dr. Ziemer is no longer suspicious and mysterious! Our latest trivia question is, "What was Great Uncle Beazley's first name?" Can you answer this question???

Planetarium Fieldtrip

As we learn more about the solar system, we will visit the Wauwatosa West High School Planetarium on February 7th. Please return the permission form and $3 fee by February 4th. Thank you!

This is really a mystery!

We ended today with an all-school gathering. We saw another giant egg in the gym, danced to Rocking' Robin, and discovered why the teachers were wearing letters today. After the gathering, Leland exclaimed, "this is really a mystery."

More eggcitement at Wilson!

An egg appeared in our classroom this morning & we were filled with wonders.
I wonder...what do you think is in this egg? Where did it come from? Who sent it? What should we do with it? Ask your child to give you details about this crazy finding!

Solar System Inquiry

You may have heard that our most current unit of study is...the solar system! The excitement in the classroom and engagement is truly "out of this world!" Our inquiry team includes Ms. Azzolina's 1st and 2nd graders. The team meets every Tuesday and Thursday for explicit instruction, however, we continue to learn about the planets during our literacy time when we are researching, reading, and writing about about this topic. Thus far, we are completing the "immersion phase" of inquiry where we are being exposed to quite a bit of information. As a whole group, our main focus was the sun. After discovering new learning about parts of the solar system, the students are working on asking good questions called "I wonders." Next, we will take those wonders and begin the research process of answering our questions. We always say...the more you learn, the more you wonder AND the more you wonder, the more you learn. It's quite an exciting process. Next week we hope to begin step 2 of the four steps of inquiry.
